About Tillie

In my counselling work, I prioritise you as the expert in your own life and learn about your current position in what you’re experiencing. In time, we can work together to build pathways toward a life that is empowering to you, your family, and your community. Using methods such as externalising problems, re-authoring your stories, and linking with your community are some of the ways we can do this together.

The majority of my experience is in working with young people and their families. I enjoy working with teenagers and being a person in their lives they can confide in. Where appropriate, I value working alongside their families and communities as well to bridge our individual work out into other areas of their lives. Another professional area of interest is supporting children of chronically ill parents. My research centres around developing methods of support for children who are managing the realities of having a chronically ill or disabled parent/caregiver. I welcome any opportunity to work alongside rangatahi and tamariki in these situations, and beyond. While this is my area of experience and research, I look forward to working with young people and adults.

I do not have an age limit and am excited to meet anyone who wants to work alongside me.

Community work is an important part of my mahi, as is paying respect to tangata whenua. I adhere to Te Tiriti o Waitangi and will gladly work in partnership with Māori, Pasifika, and all cultural groups in Aotearoa. As we work together, I will prioritise learning about your culture, if it is important to you, and will utilise ways of working that are relevant to your cultural context.

If these ways of working sound like they fit for you, please do reach out. I look forward to getting to know you and offering my service to help move toward a life that is healthy and meaningful to you.
